Math Website Earns CODIE Award Finalist Status

San Francisco, January 7, 2004 -- Hotmath, Inc. announced today that its website, hotmath.com, has been designated as a finalist for a prestigious Codie Award in the category of Home / Consumer Education Technology.

Hotmath.com provides step-by-step explanations for the actual math homework problems from leading math textbooks used in middle school math through calculus - odd numbered problems only. The company's pedagogy is based on research showing that students learn best when they are provided some worked-out solutions for their assigned homework problems.

"In light of the intense competition this year, to be named a Codie Awards finalist is a tremendous honor and an important achievement.  The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) is proud to recognize these companies as true leaders in their fields," says Ken Wasch, SIIA President.

According to Hotmath president, Chuck Grant, "We are very proud to have been selected as a finalist. This is a great capstone to a year during which we have been chosen as a partner by Microsoft for their MSN Encarta Premium Math Help service, chosen by a number of math textbook publishers for supplementary support for their textbooks, and chosen by over a thousand schools and school districts nationwide to help their students complete math homework with understanding."

Parents may subscribe to the Hotmath.com service for their middle school, high school, and college students for $29 per semester. Testimonials on the Hotmath website indicate the potential for significant letter-grade improvements when Hotmath is used to help students understand their homework.

Hotmath, Inc. is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and was founded in 2000. Hotmath.com is teacher-created, research-based, and is listed by states that identify supplementary math learning resources. For more information, please contact , or call 510-524-5525.
